Hey Molly, I think we all need to learn about Project-based Learning...what makes a really good project vs. something that has a pretty product, but not enough curricular 'meat'. We need to learn how to set-up rubrics that encourage all the skills both academic and 'work-related' we are looking for students to develop as they learn to apply their learning to creatively solve problems.
Janet, I think we have begun conversation to address many of these needs at our ILC meeting yesterday. It was suggested that the teacher needs to master their own content as well as become a true facilitor. By taking the TIME to plan a strong project list or rubric, all the needs are met. The product that is created is completely student generated.
